Caucasian knot | Defense of raw food blogger Maxim Lyuty claims violations in case of death of his child

The reasons for the death of the child of Maxim Lyuty, a raw food blogger and fasting advocate, have never been investigated. Investigators changed their decision three times on which item to charge Lyuty because there was no evidence the child died from his actions, lawyer Alexei Avanesyan said.

On April 16, a court in Sochi sentenced Maxim Lyuty, who is also the founder of the esoteric club, to eight years in prison, finding him guilty in the case of his baby’s death. Investigators believe that Lyuty and his female partner deprived the baby of food, causing his death. In September 2023, a court in Sochi sentenced the baby’s mother, Oksana Mironova, to two years of hard labor.

“My client had and could not have any intentions. This was a long-awaited child for 34-year-old Oksana Mironova and 43-year-old Maxim Lyuty. Before that, they lived together for two years, but Oksana could not get pregnant. Maxim’s accusation is based on a slander against him by his common-law wife. Alexei Avanesyanclaims the blogger’s advocate.

The case of the baby’s death has gained great public resonance, and investigators had to seriously punish the perpetrator, but they needed evidence, which was lacking; and then they found a “weak link” – Oksana Mironova, who gave the testimonies the investigators needed, for which she received a lenient sentence, Mr. Avanesyan believes.

“The court dealt with Mironova’s role as an almost victim of Lyuty. However, she had willingly lived with this ‘tyrant’ for two years. she did not work anywhere and fully shared Maxim’s views on raw feeding and fasting. It was her choice not to turn to doctors and to give birth at home,” the lawyer said.

Given the baby’s health, Mironova could have consulted doctors, but she did not, Avanesyan said, noting that not all premature babies survive; and in fact there was no investigation as to why Lyuty’s baby had actually died.

Maxim Lyuty’s mother spoke out in defense of her son on her page in the social network “VKontakte”. She called on followers of the healthy lifestyle – her son’s like-minded people – to unite and help him, including by raising money for an advocacy group.
