Gov. Kefas expresses its willingness to mitigate the effects of climate change in Taraba

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to mitigating the effects of climate change across the state.

He also pledged to address pressing economic challenges and promote sustainable land use.

The governor stated this at the Federal University Wukari over the weekend while declaring two million different economic tree planting campaigns.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Abdullahi Aminu Alkali, said his administration

recognized the crucial importance of trees to humanity and the environment in general.

He added that the event is an important milestone in his government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, conservation and economic development.

He noted that the planting of the two million diverse economic trees represents a collective resolve in tackling economic challenges, promotes sustainable land use practices and reduces the impact of climate change in Taraba.

He further explained that the Green Taraba project is a testament to his government’s commitment to protect the natural heritage and ensure healthier economic resilience.

Confirming the governor, Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Aishat Abdulazeez Barde, reiterated the ministry’s readiness on the state’s afforestation to reduce the impact of climate change.

It states that the ministry will conduct vigorous tree planting campaigns in all sixteen local government councils of the state.
