Alaafin of Oyo’s family announces events to mark two years since the death of Late Monarch

The family of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, has announced a series of events to commemorate the second anniversary of his death.

The events, scheduled for Monday, April 22, 2024, include:

  1. Christian prayers, led by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and heads of churches, at the private residence of the late monarch in Boroboro Area, Oyo, Oyo State, at 9:00 am.
  2. Traditional Asa Orisa prayers at Alaafin’s Palace, Oyo, at 9:50 am.
  3. Islamic prayers, led by Oyo Central Mosque and Al-Fatih-Ul-Al-Qureeb Muslim Organization, at Qureeb Islamic Organization Central Mosque, Galilee, Oyo, at 3:10 am. This will be followed by an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Qureeb Mosque, sponsored by the Honorable Prince Akeem Adeyemi, in loving memory of the late monarch.
  4. Switching on of electrical transformer in Iware Town, sponsored by Honorable Akeem Adeyemi and Senator Yunus Akintunde, at 12:00 noon.

You will all recall that Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the 44th Alaafin of Oyo, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the age of 83, after a remarkable reign of 52 years. He was a champion of Yoruba culture and tradition and oversaw significant development in Oyo city and state during his reign.
