Nikkei Asia is hiring a Hong Kong-based business reporter

Nikkei Asia is recruiting a Hong Kong News Reporter.

Nikkei Asia, a fast-growing publication covering Asian business and politics for a global audience, is looking for a new reporter for our Hong Kong bureau. He/she would lead reporting on the city’s major business and political developments. He/she is expected to provide news and original perspectives on daily developments, but also to develop analytical, trend and profile pieces.

Candidates must be fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. He/she must have significant experience writing about business, a strong sense of news, a commitment to accuracy and the ability to collaborate. Preference was given to candidates who already have the right to work in Hong Kong. Nikkei offers competitive compensation.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Previously he was Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor of Business Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook “Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication” and “Thinking Things Over,” a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
