6 relatives of Hubballi drown in the river at Dandeli

HUBBALLI, April 21: Six members of a family, including children, drowned in the Kali river in Dandeli.

The deceased have been identified as Nazeer Ahmed (40), Reshma (38), Ifra (15), Abid (12), Alfiya (10) and Mahin (6).

According to reports, resident of Hubballi’s Ishwar Nagar Nazeer Ahmed, along with his family members, had gone to Dandeli for a picnic. Six of the eight members drowned while playing in the Kali River.

Nazeer was accompanied by his wife, children and relatives. However, Nazeer’s wife Salma is said to be safe.

Nazeer was reportedly working as a contractor at HDMC.

Dandeli police have registered a case in this regard. Police were able to recover the bodies with the help of local fishermen, fire brigade personnel and others.
