Royal Saudi Air Force takes part in multinational exercises in Greece

RIYADH: The Royal Saudi Air Force took part in the multinational air exercise INIOCHOS 2024 organized at the Air Tactics Center in Greece, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Over the course of two weeks, air forces from several countries conducted a variety of simulated combat air operations, including command of air missions and campaigns, planning cells, intelligence missions and forward air control tasks during close air support operations, according to Saudi Press. Lieutenant Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Harbi, the commanding pilot of the Saudi contingent in the exercise, said months of preparation resulted in the achievement of planned objectives at all levels.

He appreciated the efforts of the Saudi air, technical and support crews, who demonstrated a high level of preparedness and professionalism.

INIOCHOS is one of the largest military exercises in Europe. The deployment began on April 1 and lasted until April 7, while the secondary execution phase began on April 8 and ended on April 18. The third phase of the exercise, the redeployment of forces, took place from April 19 to 21.

The Royal Saudi Air Force sent six Typhoon aircraft along with air, technical and support crews to the exercises, the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said.

The RSAF members aimed to enhance readiness, simulate a real war environment, exchange expertise and plan complex air operations in an environment involving multinational forces, the ministry added.

Participating countries included Cyprus, Qatar, Romania, Spain, France, Montenegro, Great Britain and the US.
