The 70-year-old albatross is actively looking for love after her partner passed away

Biologists in the North Pacific have spotted a cheeky albatross named ‘Wisdom’ looking for a new mate after her long-term mate, named Akeakamai, was not seen for the past few breeding seasons.

Wisdom has danced with potential partners. Oh la la!

Living Science reports: “Wisdom, the world’s oldest known wild bird, was photographed again last month at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge dancing with potential mates. Her long-term mate, Akeakamai, has not yet been seen and has been absent for the past two breeding seasons, too. “

Female Laysan albatrosses usually lay one egg in the first half of December, but Wisdom still took part in mating dances well into spring, said Jonathan Plissner, the supervising wildlife biologist at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, a wildlife refuge 1,300 miles (2,110 km) away. ) northwest of Honolulu. LiveScience also says that Midway Atoll, or Kuaihelani in Hawaiian, is home to the largest colony of Laysan albatrosses in the world, with 600,000 breeding pairs returning to the two sand islands every year.

In this video you can see their actual courtship dance and it’s pretty amazing.

The way they bob their heads and stomp their feet at the same time is pretty cute, and I honestly didn’t expect an albatross to sound like that.

Fun facts about albatross birds

The laysan albatross averages 32 inches in length and has a wingspan of 77-80 inches. They have the largest wingspan of all birds.

The Laysan albatross feeds mainly on cephalopods, but also eats fish, crustaceans and other invertebrates. They can even dive into the water and reach up to five meters deep to get their food.

These amazing birds can even sleep while they fly, and can go years without ever touching land. It takes about two months to fly around the entire Earth. They can even fly for days without ever flapping their wings.

As for wisdom in finding a new boyfriend? Courtship for the laysan albatross consists of super elaborate ‘dances’ with up to 25 ritual movements. This is how they find a partner to mate with. It is believed that Wisdom hatched 40 or more chicks. These birds usually mate for life. Well, unless their partner dies.

I wish you the best wisdom. Go get your husband!
