CRISP COUNTY, GA (April 19, 2024): Crisp County Sheriff’s Office is a proud recipient of a $2,600 grant
awarded by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council through the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) FY2020
Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP). Through this grant, the agency
was able to purchase Narcan, which will be issued to Crisp County Deputies.
“Since 2022, when the agency began providing Narcan to Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies, this grant has been the only
one we received that covers the full cost. Because our agency has invested more than $5,000 in providing deputies
With this life-saving spray, obtaining such grants will significantly benefit the taxpayers of Crisp County. We are
grateful to have the opportunity to partner with a local pharmacy, Adam’s Drugstore and Gifts, to stock Narcan,”
said Sheriff Hancock.
Overview of the Naloxone Statewide Initiative
The Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP) was developed as part of the
Comprehensive legislation on the Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA). The purpose of COSSAP is to provide financial resources
and technical assistance to states, local government units and Indian tribal governments to develop,
implement or expand comprehensive efforts to identify, respond, treat, and support those affected by illegal activities
opioids, stimulants and other drugs.
