Reddick Library in Ottawa to host talks on creating countertop microgreens – Shaw Local

Local food advocate Rev. Holly Koster of Ridge Fridge Food Co-op will moderate a discussion at the Reddick Library in Ottawa on Thursday, April 25, Mighty Microgreens.

The lecture is scheduled for adults from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Koster will also give a demonstration on growing your own microgreens on your countertop. Find out how supplementing your meals with these tasty sprouts will improve your mental health, combat aging and support local agriculture.

Tuesday April 23 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am: Ready, set, read! From 3 to 6 years. Go to the library for a story time with music, exercise activities, sing-alongs, literacy games, crafts and stories.

Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM: Silent Book Club, third through twelfth grades. Introverts unite! Take the book you are reading with you and enjoy some quiet time with others. There will be an opportunity to discuss your book if you wish, and snacks will be provided.

Wednesday April 24 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am: Shake, rattle, read! Ages from 9 to 36 months. Sing, dance, craft and create treasured memories during this fun interactive story time planned especially for the younger crowd.

Wednesday April 24 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM: No Sewing Made Easy, seventh through twelfth grades. Make your own no-sew bunny plush. Absolutely no sewing skills are required.

Thursday April 25 from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM: Bug Hotel, kindergarten through second grade. Use materials from nature to create an insect hotel in your garden, where your crawling friends stay safe and warm.

Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM: Crafter Hours: Butterfly Garland, Adults. Participants make a butterfly garland with pink cupcake liners and clothespins. Registration is required as places are limited due to the availability of materials. To reserve a spot for this class, call the library or stop by the Circulation Desk.

Saturday April 27 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM: The Loop Group, adults. Learn to knit or crochet in a friendly environment with expert people.
