The ‘safest’ Midlands areas where homeowners live and sleep in peace

The thought of being broken into is at the top of many people’s worst nightmares. It is a crime that can have a huge impact on victims and make them feel anxious and unsafe in their home.

There are areas in the West Midlands where there have been very few burglaries this year. These are statistically the safest places for homeowners to live and they are left alone without having to deal with crooks or burglars.




We obtained details of burglaries or attempted burglaries and where they took place in January and February through a Freedom of Information request to West Midlands Police. This has allowed us to identify the ‘safest’ areas to live, based on the number of burglaries that occur.

Only two have been reported in postcode B94, which includes places such as Hockley Heath and Earlswood on the outskirts of Solihull, close to where the M42 and M40 meet. There are factors that make burglaries less likely here.

It is a fairly rural area with fewer inhabitants than many other postcode areas. It’s also wealthier and more upmarket, meaning residents of these sleepy villages are less likely to experience issues such as crime and anti-social behavior taking place on the city center streets.
