Obituary for Jane Anna Goodman

Jane Anna Goodman (Weber)

Jane Goodman, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 18, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 16, 1944, the beloved eldest child of seven children born to her parents Norman and Edna (Pohl) Weber. She grew up and lived in Portland, where she married the love of her life and raised her family. She was a devoted, lifelong parishioner of Portland St. Patrick Catholic Church and retired from Auto-Owners Insurance of Lansing after many years of service.

Jane prioritized and cherished spending time with family and looked forward to vacations and social events. She enjoyed baking with her granddaughters, planting flowers every spring, playing cards with her brothers, traveling across the country with her husband, dancing, and participating in a local bowling league. She loved creating memorable moments with her grandchildren and always made us feel special by sending the thoughtful birthday, anniversary and Christmas cards that she would never forget. Jane shared a rare bond with her sister; they shared a bond that was a constant source of support and encouragement for each other and their families. We will forever feel the warmth of her loving heart and the way she spread happiness with her infectious smile.

Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald (Jerry) of 58 years; her parents; sister, Arlene Weber, brother, Marvin Weber; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Dorothy Goodman; in-laws, Patrick Vashaw, Norman Goodman, Jerry Fernholz and William Curns; niece and nephews, Michelle Curns, Kevin Becker and Ronald Shinaver, Jr.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Goodman, Linda (Paul) Connell and Laurie (Mike) Piggott; grandchildren, Tyler, Makayla, Jacob, Grace and Rachael; siblings Joan Vashaw, Lee (Jane) Weber, Jerome Weber, Daniel (Joyce) Weber and Janice (Jim) Bollman; in-laws, Joyce Curns, Carol (Ronald, Sr) Shinaver, Eugene (Letha) Goodman, Ronald (Jane) Goodman and Gladys Fernholz; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the caregivers and staff of Country Living Senior Care of Portland, MI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Portland.
