Marie Claire announces the nominees of the first Sustainability Awards

Are Media has announced the list of nominees for the inauguration Marie Claire Sustainability Awards, in partnership with Volvo Australia, features fashion designer Maggie Marilyn, skincare brand Emma Lewisham and drinks brand Imbibe.

The Marie Claire Sustainability Awards reward companies and products that implement real change and build a better future.

Finalists were selected by four judges in eight categories: Marie Claire editor Georgie Abay; sustainability expert, founder of the eco-friendly company Banish and 2023 Marie Claire Eco Warrior of the Year, Lottie Dalziel; activist, author and change maker, Clare Press; and Thread Together Founder and Chairman, Andie Halas.

The jury chooses one winner per category. The winners will be announced on May 2. The winners and a Hall of Fame inductee will next be honored at the first MCSA celebration event in Sydney on June 6.

Abay said: “When Australian brands come together to advocate for a healthier planet, consumers are empowered and informed to make sustainable choices.

“As part of our commitment to this cause, Marie Claire‘s digital hub will be dedicated to the Marie Claire Sustainability Awards from April to June, with new articles added regularly. The June issue and cover of Marie Claire will also focus on sustainability to ensure this core message reaches as many readers as possible.

“We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the remarkable and very important efforts of these Australian companies. Congratulations – and thank you – to all nominees.”

Dalziel said: “By introducing these awards, Marie Claire aims to showcase a cohort of brands, companies and people who are redefining business as usual within their industries and operating for their purpose, people and planet. These are the visionaries, pioneers and pioneers who strive for the greater good, push the boundaries and prove that impact and business can indeed go hand in hand.”

Volvo said it is committed to making a difference for the planet and its people, and making the transition to an all-electric car manufacturer.

Stephen Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Australia, said: “We want to rethink sustainability in our operations, in our cars and in society. And we are very proud to work with Marie Claire to highlight other Australian companies who have also pledged to put the planet first.”
