The easily overlooked detail in the photos of Queen Mary’s children

The latest birthday portrait of Princess Isabella, the eldest daughter of Queen Mary of Denmark, has been released – and it includes a detail that many often miss.

While most royal photos are taken by professionals, the doting mother of four is almost always the photographer behind her children’s candid birthday portraits.

And she usually includes one or more pets in her photos for a personal touch.

Isabella, as well as her siblings Prince Christian, 18, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 13, posed with animals in their birthday photos.

In the 17-year-old princess’s birthday photo, she is sitting next to Coco, one of the family dogs.

“To celebrate her birthday, Her Majesty The Queen has taken new photos of the Princess with Coco, one of the royal family dogs,” the royal family announced in an Instagram post.

Princess Isabella of Denmark turned 17 on Sunday, April 21. The royal family shared a photo of the princess with their dog Coco, who was taken along by her mother, Queen Mary.

It is not the first time that Border Collie Coco has appeared in the royal family’s birthday portraits.

For Josephine and Vincent’s 11th birthday, the twins posed with Coco and her littermate when they were just puppies.

Mary’s dogs Grace and Ziggy, who passed away in 2017, also feature in the family portraits.

Their horses and even a koala have also appeared in photos of the royal children.

In her latest birthday photo, Isabella wore a beige blazer and a plain white T-shirt, accessorized with hoop earrings.

She also wore an 18-karat gold ‘B’ necklace worth $3,767 from jewelry brand Dulong, suggesting her family and friends refer to her by an abbreviated nickname of Belle or Bella.

Isabella wore her brunette locks in a blow-dry wave and opted for simple, natural makeup with a hint of blush.

Queen Mary has a penchant for photography and regularly posts photos she has taken herself on the Danish royal family’s social media pages.

These include photos from around the palace, candid photos of family and artsy garden photos.

She also gets behind the camera during family vacations and shares behind-the-scenes sneak peeks in surprising collages posted online.

The fact that she continues to do this as Queen shows her commitment to a modern monarchy – something she and her husband King Frederik have been vocal about since coming to power in January.
