Olam Agri reaffirms its commitment to food security

Olam Agri in Nigeria, a food, feed and fiber agribusiness, has reaffirmed its commitment to helping Nigeria achieve food security. The company made this promise during a recent meeting with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.

The meeting, which is part of the agribusiness’s strategic engagements with critical stakeholders, featured the Managing Director of Olam Agri in Nigeria, Anil Nair, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacchaeus Adedeji, the Accountant General of the Federation Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, present. and the Director of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Olam Agri, Ade Adefeko. The latest engagement followed a courtesy visit to the Vice President of the Federation, Senator Kashim Shettima, and a tour of the rice farm and mill in the agricultural sector by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari.

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy Olam implored Agri to leverage its impressive scale through presence in the value chains of rice, sesame, animal and fish feed, wheat flour, as well as the production of biscuits, confectionery and culinary products. .

Commenting, Olam Agri Managing Director in Nigeria, Anil Nair, said: “Our commitment to driving food security is reflected in the significant investments we continue to make to increase productivity in the rice, feed and protein, wheat and flour mills. value chains for sesame and edible oils. We are also consistently scaling up this investment, while expanding engagement in various out-grower programs, research and development, partnerships, collaborations and the integration of smallholder farmers into various empowerment initiatives for the betterment of Nigeria.”
