Bidders for Critters Auction to Support Chattanooga Zoo Expansion

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – For all the animal lovers, the Chattanooga Zoo has a fun surprise with new animals this summer, but they need your help with the Bidder Critter auction next week.

“We have a total of 75 items including hotel stays, an exclusive zoo experience, gift certificates to restaurants, tickets to local attractions, furniture, glassware, lots of cool things for people to check out and all proceeds go to our cape. of Africa’s expansion,” said Jake Cash, Director of Marketing and Communications.

This expansion will be like no other as it will be the largest expansion in the history of the Chattanooga Zoo, with a few different African wildlife for people to come and see.

“Specifically, the expansion will support the care of a new species, so this summer we will be bringing African porcupines, servals and warthogs to the zoo for the first time in one of the largest expansions ever, the Cape of Africa expansion. ” said Cash.

In order for these spiky and hairy guys to make it to the Chattanooga Zoo, they need people to help make this dream come true by raising $25,000.

“The warthog and African Cape porcupine extension should open this summer. We are currently hoping for July and assume that everything will go well with the construction. We think the extension should be open by the end of July. We haven’t announced an official date yet, hopefully they can do that soon, but right now it’s looking like July,” Cash said.

The auction runs from Sunday, April 21 at 8 a.m. to April 27 at 5 p.m. Visit the Chattanooga Zoo website for more information on how you can contribute.
