A 1-year-old French bulldog named Diego was stolen from a Pasadena home on Saturday, the owner said, and she is offering a $2,500 reward for his safe return.

The blue, long-haired Frenchie, who was temporarily staying with the owner’s mother, was in a crate in the kitchen when he was stolen from her home in the 1700 block of Linda Vista Avenue, Dee DeLara, between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., the owner said. .

DeLara, who lives in Altadena, said her mother pulled into the driveway Saturday afternoon and discovered the gate and sliding glass door were open. Besides the dog and its crate, nothing else was stolen.

The family has had Diego for eight months after getting him from a breeder for her son, DeLara said.

She told ABC7 that the fluffy Frenchie has been neutered, so he won’t be worth much to the thieves.

But he means a lot to her 12-year-old son.

“I still have to tell him,” she told the ABC reporter, referring to her son. ‘Actually, I don’t want to tell him. I want to get the dog back and do whatever I can’t to tell him. I’d be happy to offer a reward, or whatever, to get him back.”

She set the reward at $2,500.

DeLara and detectives are trying to find surveillance footage from the area, hoping it can help identify the thief, ABC reported.

Pasadena police confirmed a report had been made but had no additional information available Sunday.

French bulldogs have become targets for thieves in recent years. In a high-profile case in 2021, performer Lady Gaga tweeted that she would pay $500,000 for the safe return of her two stolen French bulldogs.
