MBS orders to start the ‘Road to Makkah Project’ at Jinnah Airport

ISLAMABAD: After Islamabad, Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman (MBS) has ordered to immediately start work on the ‘Road to Makkah Project’ at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

In this regard, a two-member Saudi delegation conducted a detailed inspection at Jinnah International Airport on Sunday. According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sources, the Saudi Consul General was also with the visiting Saudi delegation.

According to concerned officials of the Federal Government, the immigration and other essential needs of the Haj pilgrims of Karachi and across Sindh will be accomplished at the Jinnah International Airport under the ‘Road to Makkah Project’ and they will be taken directly from Jeddah travel. Madina airports to their places of residence without having to go through the lengthy immigration process at those airports.

The ‘Road to Makkah Project’ has already been successfully launched at Islamabad Airport. Acting Manager of Jinnah International Airport briefed the Saudi delegation and invited them to visit the airport lounges. The Saudi delegation met officials from the Airport Security Force, FIA and Customs during its visit, in addition to meeting with the technical team for processing and establishing other mechanisms. A final shape of immigration facilities for Haj pilgrims at Karachi airport will be given in a few days. The lounge and hall will be allotted at Jinnah International Airport where the required immigration staff along with other officials will install a computer system at their counter. In this way, Jinnah International Airport becomes the second in Pakistan to launch the Road to Makkah project.
