Marriott and SOS Indonesia combat food waste in Bali with a new food truck

Marriott International and SOS Indonesia are redoubling their efforts in food waste management, with their food truck ‘Sadeva’ operating in the Nusa Dua and Jimbaran areas.

Marriott International continues its never-ending efforts to achieve its 2025 sustainability and social impact goals with the launch of its newest food truck, Sadeva. Through Marriott Business Council Indonesia, the leader in the luxury hospitality sector is once again supporting Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia with a food truck to distribute surplus food to communities in need while reducing food waste.

The council members, who form Marriott’s hotels and resorts in Indonesia, joined forces with SOS Indonesia to unveil the new food truck at a special event held on April 16, 2024 at the Bali International Convention Centre, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua , Bali. Both parties gathered to witness a major step in the brand’s sustainability efforts, with Sadeva becoming the second food truck sponsored by Marriott International.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with SOS Indonesia and contribute to tackling both food waste and the challenges faced by some communities in Bali. ‘Sadeva’ represents Marriott International’s continued commitment to creating positive change and promoting sustainable communities,” said Martin Ehlers, Managing Director of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu and Chairman of Marriott Business Council Indonesia.

Sadeva follows in the footsteps of Doa Ibu, the first food truck launched in Jakarta on October 15, 2023. Both trucks share the mission to reduce food waste and help communities, with Sadeva expanding its reach to Nusa Dua and Jimbaran. Sadeva is being realized with the proceeds from Marriott International Indonesia’s annual charity event, Road To Give 2023.

Expressing his appreciation for the recently launched food truck in Bali, I Wayan Raksa, General Manager of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali and Co-Chairman of Marriott Business Council Bali, said: “We are thrilled to see our second food truck, ‘Sadeva ‘, who rolls into Bali to support this impactful initiative. In keeping with the purpose of the event, 200 food parcels were distributed to Yayasan Penyandang Anak Cacat (YPAC), a care home for children with disabilities, at the launch. This act epitomized Marriott International’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities across Bali. Media partners were also invited to witness this momentous event.
