Bickerley Green Nursing & Residential Home vintage virtual bus rides between schemes receiving share of £2,500 Ringwood Town Council grant

VINTAGE virtual bus rides for care home residents are among the programs benefiting from £2,500 of funding from Ringwood Council.

A recent full council meeting confirmed the distribution of the last funds remaining in the subsidy pot for the 2023/24 financial year.

Bickerley Green Nursing & Residential Home received £500 for two programs to encourage residents who are frail or have dementia.

A partial interior of a 1950s/60s Hampshire and Dorset bus will be recreated on site, along with the Ringwood Market Place and Bournemouth Gardens bus stops.

The other plan is to create a cafe/social center in the center of Ringwood with city photographs and memorabilia, for the benefit of residents and visitors.

In its bid for funding, the home said the vintage-style resource would also be open to suitable external groups, supported living communities and like-minded seniors groups in the city.

Ringwood Girl Guiding will receive a grant of £750 to provide a disabled toilet in the guide hall on Clough’s Road.

A further £750 has been handed over to Greyfriars Community Center to replace the old parquet floor in Greyfriars Hall.

Friends of Ringwood Infants School (FORIS) will receive £500 to set up a covered outdoor learning space.

This will be placed at the back entrance of Year 1 students’ Badger, Fox and Sika Deer classrooms.

Proposals for the development are said to be submitted shortly, with the hope that it will be implemented over the summer holidays.
