Mystery as strange animal tears apart deaf man’s thigh in Kisii

“He just climbed out of the riverbank and tried to tie me up with the tail while I fought back. However, he only managed to bite me,” he recalled through sign language.

However, he could not distinguish it from the photos shown to him as he lay in his hospital bed.

Dorcas Ogega, Mark’s mother, told reporters that her son was tending to the family cow on the riverbank when he came running and gasping after the vicious attack.

He was bleeding and part of his pants were torn off during the attack.

“Being a man, he wouldn’t show me where he was bitten so I learned from his uncle. We quickly organized a bodaboda to rush him to hospital,” she told reporters.

“The fact that Mark was deaf appears to have hindered communication to help us determine what type of animal had attacked him,” she said.

Mark’s wife, Linet, appealed to the government to help them as they struggled to find money for her husband’s treatment.
