The UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection has issued crucial advisories and warnings in the wake of the record-breaking rainfall that hit the UAE last week.

The unprecedented weather led to widespread flooding in several areas. As water accumulation continues in certain parts of the UAE, residents are urged to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures:

Avoid drinking rainwater: Do not use rainwater as it may contain contaminants.

Clear areas recorded with water: Take proactive steps to clean areas where water has collected, secure entrances and install screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering.

Protect against mosquitoes: Wear long-sleeved clothes and use mosquito repellent creams to prevent mosquito bites.

Clean and ventilate: Clean the house and furniture regularly, use gloves, long clothes and masks to prevent moisture and mold. Ensure good ventilation by opening windows.

Prevent waterborne diseases: Avoid playing or swimming in standing water as this can be a source of pollution. Make sure drains and sewers are not clogged to prevent water stagnation.

Ensure hygiene and safety: Make sure drinking water and food are clean to prevent contamination. Seek medical advice immediately if you experience worrying symptoms.

Be careful: Avoid touching fallen objects and dangling electrical wires, and keep first aid supplies close at hand at home.

Healthy living: Maintain a balanced diet by consuming five servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Avoid unhealthy snacks to prevent digestive problems and exercise at home to stay active and healthy.

These guidelines are essential to protect public health and well-being in the wake of the unprecedented rainfall in the UAE.
