Amit Shah promises justice for Gorkhas

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today promised that the Gorkhas in Darjeeling would get justice under the provisions of the Indian Constitution. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to attend a public meeting at Lebong in Darjeeling today to campaign for his party candidate Raju Bista, but his helicopter could not land there due to poor weather conditions despite attempts since this morning.

He was in Siliguri and after a long wait since 10am he left for Darjeeling around 1pm but the pilot chose not to take the risk of landing his helicopter due to the frequent climatic changes in Darjeeling. Finally, Mr. Shah went to Katihar to attend another program there. After reaching Katihar, Mr. Shah Raju called Bista and decided to address the audience in Darjeeling over phone. “I would like to inform the Gorkha family that we stand with your fight for justice. I promise you will get justice. The Indian Constitution will provide you with justice,” Shah said over the phone. “The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to solving all the problems in the Hills.

The demand for tribal status for 11 left out communities in the hills is being considered and there is discussion on the issue,” Mr. Shah said, adding, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched several tourism programs to promote the development of Darjeeling. and tea garden workers.” Expressing his respect to the Gorkhas for their sacrifice in the interests of the country, Mr. Shah said, “BJP always gives priority to the interests of Gorkhas. Only the BJP can restore peace in the Hills.

Please stay with us and elect Gorkha candidate Raju Bista for the second time and Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for the third time.” Mr Shah will address two public meetings in Raiganj and Malda on April 23. Speaking to reporters, Mr Bista said he may request Mr Shah to attend a roadshow in Siliguri on April 23. Besides the political leaders from Hill, Satpal Maharaj from Uttarakhand was present at the Gorkha Stadium in Lebong to campaign for Raju Bista. Satpal Maharaj emphasized the central government’s commitment to ensuring justice for this region and its people under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the great works undertaken by the Central government in the region, he stated that his blessings are always with the people of Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooar. According to Mr Bista, Amit Shah in a telephone message stated that the BJP is the only party committed to ensuring peace, progress and development in the region. The issue of eleven excluded Gorkha sub-tribes as Scheduled Tribe is being considered and that the people of Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars will definitely get justice under the Constitution of India. Mr. Shah shared his regrets and stated that according to Mr. Bista, he will meet with the people of the region very soon.
